“My therapeutic approach is eclectic, in that I believe, there is no one therapy that fits all people, irrespective of their diagnosis / presenting problems. That said, I only provide psychotherapy that has a strong evidence-base in recognised mental health practice. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is one such model; it is considered to be particularly effective in the management and alleviation of symptoms associated with a number of common difficulties including, depression and anxiety. This model forms the basis of my approach. I also use the following models, which are widely recognised to be effective in the treatment of more complex and enduring problems, be they personality-based, interpersonal and / or related to loss and bereavement:
– Schema Therapy
– Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)
– Transactional Analysis
– Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
– Mentalization-Based Therapy
– Mindfulness Meditation
I am solution-focused with a problem solving approach. Clients are encouraged to take an active role in treatment with many keen to carry out agreed assignment tasks between sessions. CBT is recognised to be a short- to medium-term psychotherapy, meaning that progress is monitored throughout treatment, with the goal of effecting positive change in a shorter period of time than some other models.”
– Masters degree in Psychology (University of Glasgow)
– Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (BABCP member)
– Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy (accredited / registered practitioner with The General Hypnotherapy Register)
– Diploma in EMDR
– Certificate in NLP
Vicki is insured to practice privately and regularly attends courses to develop her skills.
